Partners -
E.K. Ward and

2005 Newsletter
Human
Resources and Technology - that's the focus of this
month's newsletter.
It seems not long ago that technological
innovation in the HR department was solely measured by
the speed of your photocopier, the quality of the fax,
the number of
telephone lines and whether your answering
machine could record all your incoming messages before
the tape ran out.
In the following articles, we have attempted
to give you an overview of what's occurring in the field
of current HR technology. You'll find reference to the
language and services you may take for granted, plus
some insight on emerging trends.
If technology is the application of
knowledge, read on and learn how you can use it to
impact and change HR, your organization and
yourself.
Sincerely,
Anne Mahoney

HR Technology: Leveraging the Shift
to Self-Service-It's Time to Go Strategic
Introduction Advances in Web-based technology
in particular and computer technology in general
will continue to be a driving force behind
advances in the knowledge economy. A critical
success factor influencing an organization's
ability to lead, simply languish or ultimately
falter in the marketplace will eventually come to
rest on the positive synergy the organization is
capable of generating ...

HR From The Top One of the
most significant developments affecting the HR
profession is the growing ability of small and
mid-size companies to tap the kinds of
sophisticated HR technologies and strategies once
available only to larger organizations. That
development is being driven by the growth of
outsourcing as well as advances in technology.
Expansion of the HR outsourcing market is leading

When It Comes to Technology, the
Workplace Age Gap Seems to Widen After
some 4 billion years it seems the world is getting
younger. Regardless of your age, these new workers
- generations X, Y, Z - now sharing our workspace,
understand and need technology to do their jobs
better. Now, I've come to recognize that
technology is the engine behind what I do
everyday. While I may choose to emphasize the
personal attention I provide as a consultant,
coach and trainer, in many ways, one of the most
critical things I can tell my clients is: When it
comes to technology, learn about it, keep current
with it, and use it - before someone else does -
and takes your business and people away.

Achieving workforce excellence
THE emphasis on service-oriented,
knowledge-based industries is driving companies
worldwide to transform their human resource from a
tactical to a more strategic function. HR function
is now expected to support the business goals,
provide the right direction for the people
management strategy, and then execute the
strategy. According to a study conducted by

Technology and OI Partners: Then
and Now At the beginning of OI Partners'
outplacement/human resource consultancy in 1987,
technology played a small role in our business.
Like many companies at that time, we didn't even
have a Web site. Technology has steadily
penetrated OI Partners' services even further,
with a big focus on the Internet and how it is
used to help our clients all over the world.
Because we are a global company, we are expected
to provide flexibility in every way possible, and
our Internet-based solutions help us do
that.
