The
driving force to success and growth.
"A
better human experience. . . for a better
business outcome." Sounds familiar, of course, to all who know OI Partners. But that mission forecasts what's coming
in 2012 and the years to follow as trendspotters
turn their lenses on the men and women at every level of the business
structure.
Just as the economy, technology, regulation, and other 21st-century
pressures take their toll on businesses, they challenge and change
individuals and families as well. Career transition doesn't always happen
on our own timetable. Ditto for austerity measures and downsizing.
With challenges like these—with more and more of them carried out via
remote and virtual links—we have to stop and look at the fact that
individuals and teams remain the driving force to move us to our success
and growth. When the going gets tough, both employee and employer have to
look at new ways of doing things. Here are some of the predictions for
the year, from various arenas—and the good news is that some of them are,
well, good news.

2012: What's Up, What's Down, What's Out

Personal resolutions for "2012:
Another Brand New Year" are up to you, but the trends have already
been determined. Your
work life may not live or die on the 20 pounds you've been losing for
20 years, but the trends in HR will demand your best
efforts. On first glance, it's easy to say, "the more things
change, the more they stay the same," but a closer
look will show you that "greater expansion" is the new
phrase for technology and globalization and "greater
commitment" is the expectation for social responsibility. Onward!
