Virtual
HR, is this a trend that can become
a standard?
More and more companies think so,
and they are looking at virtual HR as a solution to bring employees,
applicants, and clients together as needed, wherever they are. There are
no premium airfares when the meeting has to take
place quickly; there are no hotel bills when the weather grounds the
plane; and there are no productive days lost when the employee is stuck
in Seattle and you're staring at an empty desk in New York.
In the past decade, "virtual" has been applied to a cyber-world
that is "not physically existing." And
on October 25, 2011, the National Institute of Standards and Technology
issued what it called its 16th and final definition of "cloud
computing," which is seven pages long in the real world because it
embraces vast possibilities for software, platform and infrastructure
usage. Using these aspects of information technology has changed our
world—and virtual HR is becoming a significant part of the world of
business.
The articles in the November newsletter give you information about the
pros and cons of virtual HR, some great tools, as well as how you can get
on board and how you can best use the new model to take your company
where you need to go.

Web 3.0: Cloud
Computing and HR
|
|
Cloud
computing is neither nebulous nor fluffy, but instead
a remarkable and solid method of service delivery.
Up–front investment is small since there are no licenses to purchase;
infrastructure requirements are minimal since the vendor hosts the application;
ROI is easy to calculate and may begin
immediately; IT has less responsibility and involvement than with
on–site software; and access can be scaled up or down along with the
size of the workforce.
Learn why cloud
computing is not a hazy concept. With apologies to the Rolling
Stones, "Hey, you! Get on my cloud!"

E–Learning Authoring
Tools
|
|
As new
business models are implemented with an eye to efficiency, it’s
important to recognize that everything from sales to management skills
training can be accomplished, thanks to technology.
The majority of authoring tools, in particular "rapid authoring
tools" are still too restrictive and inflexible to build effective
e–learning courses where adults can learn. The best tools are those
that give full flexibility over the work–related activity you wish to
develop. From recording audio to fully custom interactive e-learning
tools, here is a list of great authoring
packages for e-learning.
